From the lake\u2019s edge, to the Venetian lagoon shore<\/strong><\/p>\n

From Lake Garda to Venice: the journey of the Galee per montes<\/strong> and a Veneto to discover<\/p>\n

There is an ancient tale that ploughs the waters and climbs the mountains. It is that of the Galee per Montes, the extraordinary feat accomplished in 1439 by the Serenissima, the Republic of Venice, which transported over land \u2014 from the waters of the Adige to Lake Garda \u2014 a fleet of war vessels to counter the Milanese troops. An engineering and logistical undertaking that today seems like legend<\/strong>, but which speaks of a Veneto always accustomed to thinking big, challenging natural limits and tracing impossible routes.<\/p>\n

From here, we can imagine \u2013 or actually undertake \u2013 an itinerary made of stages that tell the heart of Veneto. The first stop is Rivoli Veronese, where the famous Forte Rivoli (or Forte Wohlgemuth<\/em>) is located, not far from the point where the ships were lowered from the Adige. From there one enters the Adige valley, crossing Dolc\u00e8, Peri, Ceraino, territories set between rock faces and vineyards: lands of wine, of history, of forgotten landscapes.<\/p>\n

Da qui, possiamo immaginare – o compiere davvero – un itinerario fatto di tappe che raccontano il cuore del Veneto. La prima sosta \u00e8 Rivoli Veronese, dove si trova il famoso Forte Rivoli (o Forte Wohlgemuth<\/em>), poco distante dal punto in cui le navi furono calate dall\u2019Adige. Da l\u00ec si entra nella valle dell\u2019Adige attraversando Dolc\u00e8, Peri, Ceraino, territori incastonati tra pareti rocciose e vigneti: terre di vino, di storia, di paesaggi dimenticati.<\/p>\n

Continuing, one arrives in Verona, a city of art crossed by the Adige and deeply marked by Venetian rule. The Scaliger Tombs, the Renaissance gates, Castelvecchio<\/strong>: everything speaks of a strong bond with Venice, of a beauty that unites architecture and ingenuity.<\/p>\n

Da Verona si pu\u00f2 proseguire verso est, toccando borghi e paesi dove la civilt\u00e0 veneziana ha lasciato impronte profonde. A Soave, ad esempio, dove il vino e le mura medievali raccontano storie di mercanti e soldati. A Montagnana, gioiello fortificato, sembra uscito da un dipinto antico, fino a Cittadella e Castelfranco Veneto, dove l\u2019anima della Serenissima si mescola con quella padana.<\/p>\n

E infine, l\u2019ultima meta: Venezia. Qui l\u2019acqua \u00e8 tutto: inizio e fine del viaggio, spirito e sostanza. E\u2019 da qui che le galee salparono, ed \u00e8 qua che idealmente si ritorna, dopo aver attraversato un Veneto interno, spesso poco conosciuto ma pieno di meraviglie. Un Veneto dove le montagne e i fiumi hanno fatto vie di comunicazione, dove l\u2019ingegno ha superato i limiti della geografia, e dove l\u2019identit\u00e0 \u00e8 sempre stata fluida come l\u2019acqua che tutto connette<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
